For the past ten years The Bluewater Community of Mindful Living,
www.bluewaterbuddhist.org, has sponsored mindfulness retreats up
at Song of the Morning, a beautiful, 800 acre facility along the
wooded banks of the Pigeon River north of Gaylord, a four hour drive
from Detroit of Grand Rapids. People from all over Michigan and from
Ontario, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois have found it worthwhile to come
up north to enjoy this time together.
We now offer three five-day retreats yearly in February, May and
September— Wednesday through Sunday with activities all five days.
Sitting and walking meditation, dharma discussions, early morning
walks to greet the day, silent meals of gratitude and other
activities in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.
Please join us for the weekend, for all five days or for any single
day.
The retreat has become an anticipated event for many who enjoy the
deep quiet of the north woods. We sit. We walk. We enjoy the
nourishment of food and friends. Our lives are often busy and
complex. Mindfulness practice is an opportunity to slow down and
rest in the beauty of the present moment. It is not necessary to
have any special religious orientation to participate. Everyone is
cordially welcomed to join us. The practice is simple and easy to
follow. Allowing yourself time to enjoy peace and quiet in
beautiful, natural surroundings with like-minded spiritual friends
can be transformational.
The cost is around fifty dollars a night with a 15% discount for
overnights on Wednesday and Thursday. Delicious vegetarian meals are
included. Students receive a 25% discount. Camping is encouraged and
some private rooms are available. Please review the accommodations
at

Payment in advance is requested. Please discuss your payment options
with Song of the Morning. Memberships with further discounts are
available.
Mindfulness Retreats at Song of the Morning are sponsored by The
